I helped a new colleague set up a computer via TeamViewer. After that, a warning appeared on the screen that I was using the program for commercial purposes. After a few minutes, it automatically closed. Why does TeamViewer think that the application was used for commercial purposes? I helped for free.
TeamViewer has a free version and an extended paid version for commercial use (helping clients, colleagues). The problem you mentioned appears if the conditions of the program have been violated.

Free TeamViewer is intended for home use, one-time assistance. Through this program, you can remotely connect to a relative’s PC or network two personal computers. In the home version it is forbidden:

  • consult with clients and colleagues,
  • provide assistance to third parties,
  • work remotely, exchange data with the office computer.

TeamViewer detects violators using built-in algorithms. If the rules are violated, a warning appears on the screen, the program starts to turn off every 5 minutes.

If the user wants to remove the restrictions, it is necessary to reinstall TeamViewer for non-commercial use or purchase a license for the paid version. When choosing the second option, you need to go to the “Extras” tab and select “Buy license”.
