My boss wants me to exchange files with the employees through a remote access program. I don't like that colleagues will be able to control my PC. Tell me, is using TeamViewer dangerous? What are the implications of this program?
Anyone who knows the ID and password of your computer can connect to it, enter any folder, copy or delete information, add malicious files and programs. To protect against intruders:
Do not store connection data in clear text, do not share it with strangers, do not send it to group chats.
- After a communication session, always turn off the program, do not keep it working unless absolutely necessary.
- If you suspect information theft, immediately close TeamViewer, disable the Internet connection, and check all computer folders with antivirus.
- If you notice suspicious activity on your work PC, report it to your system administrator and the company’s security service.
- It is advisable to change the connection password every time you enter the program. To generate a new code, you need to go to the “Remote Control” tab, click on the “Create new random password” button.
Conclusion: how safe working in TeamViewer depends on the partners themselves. To minimize risks, share your access code only with trusted people, change your password as often as possible, and strictly follow the rules of the program.
