At work, from a remote computer, I can’t access some foreign sites. Colleagues advised me to change the proxy settings in TeamViewer. How do I make those changes?
Proxy servers are an intermediate link between the user's computer and site servers. If access to the Internet resource is restricted for foreigners, you can replace your real IP address with other numbers in the proxy settings. After that, access to the blocked site will be opened.

To change the IP address, open TeamViewer:

  • go to the “Menu” (hamburger button in the upper-left corner),
  • then to “Extras” – “Options” – “General”,
  • click “Configure” next to “Proxy settings”,
  • select “Use manual proxy” enter the new IP address and port number. If required, enter the username and password. To save the settings, click OK.

Proxy servers can be free (Hide.me, KProxy, VPNBook) and paid (Smartproxy, StormProxies, Luminati). On free resources, lists of available IP addresses are publicly available. On paid resources, the use of an IP address costs from $40-50 per month, but user data is better protected.
